Michael J. Sullivan

Mike Sullivan is a 30-year financial executive who recently culminated a four-year tenure as CFO of Ping Identity with a successful sale to Vista Equity Partners. While at Ping, Mike led the company through a successful transition to a subscription based business model and raised $80M of capital over two rounds of funding to support this transition. Mike introduced and integrated the need for a richer mix of performance orientation and accountability into the Corporate Culture of Ping, and balanced that into the strong existing culture without damage. Mike set forth a profitable growth mandate within the business, resulting in a recurring revenue base that eclipsed $100M within 3 ½ years, while moving the Company from a position of high cash-burn to a profitable, cash generator. While preparing for a near to mid-term IPO, Mike helped facilitate the sale of the Company in 2016, after an unsolicited approach from a strategic player kicked off a short, tight sale process. This acquisition was completed at a valuation of more than two times public market comps at the time. Mike’s contribution to Ping can effectively be summarized as spearheading the transition of Ping from an underperforming software start-up, to a profitable, high growth, recurring revenue business.

Prior to Ping, Mike spent twelve years as the Executive Vice President and CFO of IHS Inc. (now IHS Markit), a rapidly growing business information services company (NYSE listed “IHS”, and now “INFO”). Throughout his twelve-year tenure at IHS, Mike was instrumental to IHS’ success, first driving a financial and operational turn-around of the business (2001-4), then preparing for and completing a successful IPO ($300M+ raised on $1B+ valuation), and then balancing the internal and external requirements of the public company CFO role over the ensuing six years. During that period, IHS completed 30+ acquisitions, grew revenue and profit by nearly 4X and 5X, respectively, and increased market capitalization by over $4 billion (500%).  Mike’s professional experience and strong focus on driving business results has enabled him to develop and sustain relationships with sell-side analysts, institutional investors, commercial and investment bankers and other external constituents. Mike was a frequent speaker at industry conferences, and earned the trust and respect of the investing community. Mike also built enduring relationships with the IHS Board of Directors, dating back to the role he played in constituting the Board and Audit Committee in 2004, and continuing with his ongoing partnership with the IHS Board. Mike built a very strong team supporting professionals, and he remained a critical member of the executive leadership team of the Company until his departure in November 2011.

Previously, Mike spent three years with the Coors Brewing Company, directing the corporate accounting function and leading corporate planning and analysis efforts for this publicly traded consumer packaged goods company. Prior to Coors, he spent 10 years with Price Waterhouse in New York and Denver, managing the firm's participation in more than 30 domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, working with a variety of financial and strategic buyers.

Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors and chairs the Audit Committee of SailPoint (“SAIL”), the leading provider of Enterprise Identity Governance Solutions. Mike also has prior Board experience, having served on the Boards and chaired the Audit Committees of two private equity backed portfolio companies: Vertafore, a TPG Capital owned SAAS company, and SNL Financial, a New Mountain Capital owned business information services company. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Iowa.
